KLUTT’S First Appearance at the Indy
Leads to a 6th place Finish
TORONTO, ON: Gary Klutt and the PioneerFamilyPools.ca race team came home with a 6th place finish at the Pinty’s Grand Prix of Toronto on Saturday. The iconic race track was a difficult one as Klutt was only able to complete 10 practice laps due to transmission problems.
Klutt qualified in 13th position, leaving him with an uphill battle throughout the entire race. With only a few practice laps under his belt, Klutt was able to master the course and lay down the second fastest lap of the race, helping him achieve his 6th place finish. The race was an exciting one, with Klutt narrowly escaping a potentially race ending attempt by the #02 car causing a light bounce off the outside wall of turn #5.
“With it being the shortest race of the season we really just ran out of laps to continue moving forward,” said Klutt. “On this track in particular, you’re always walking the line between being aggressive and getting taken out… you really have to be patient and just take what the race gives you”.
Finishing these big road course events is important for Klutt who notes, “the number of entries are so high that you can easily have a terrible points day if you end up watching the race from pit road”.
“Overall it was a solid weekend, but it’s back to work for a two-day turn around before we leave for the Western swing”, says Klutt, who currently sits in 7th place overall in points with 171, thanks to his 3 top 10 finishes this season.
